We didn't know who
Norah Jones was when she first approached us to work
with her... In fact, few people outside of New York
City's singer-songwriter club scene did. Jones did not
release her Grammy Award winning debut until years later.
Norah was label-mate with Blue Note 8-string guitarist Charlie
Hunter who was putting together a record called
'Songs from the Analog
Playground' which features vocalists on
each song . Blue Note suggested that Charlie have Norah
sing on a couple tracks. One listen to Norah's demo
tape had Charlie convinced. We had the same reaction
to hearing Norah's voice and music for the first time
and were immediately excited to work with
this amazing new talent. Since then, Norah has become
a household name and has attracted fans from ages six
to sixty! On top of it all she is the most down to earth
sweetheart you will ever meet.
When Norah Jones
released her debut disc, 'Come Away With Me,' on
Blue Note Records in February 2002, the then 22-year-old
singer had no idea the album would be a best-seller.
In fact, she kept her expectations low. “I like
having low expectations, ‘cause then if something
turns out well, you’re always surprised in a good
way,”
says Jones.
